Independence Day is coming up. Time to celebrate!

This Saturday, August 15, marks India’s Independence Day. Since The Vegetarians’ Kitchen launched just last month, this is our first I-Day at the TVK. To mark the occasion, we decided to go completely desi for the entire week.

We are kickstarting our #IndependenceDayWeek celebrations on August 10 with the deliciously yummy Gajar Halwa. We deliberately chose to make this dessert with orange carrots in an attempt to recreate one of the colours of our national flag.

Next up is our patriotic take on the humble Idli. The white rice idli offers the perfect backdrop to get creative and showcase our love for our nation in a colourful way. Yes, on August 12, we’ll bring you our recipe for Tricolour Idli!

We round off our celebrations on August 14 with our gluten free take on Atte Ka Halwa. Jowar Halwa is an equally tasty alternative that will not let you miss your old love.
