Time flies. I can’t believe it’s been four years already since I started this site.
When I launched TVK back on July 28, 2020, the world was still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic. Most countries were still in lockdown as they watched the others reopen gradually and analyse whether it was a good idea for them to do so as well. Vaccines were still being developed and people all over the world tried to hunker down and survive long enough to be able to get the vaccine.
The world today is far different. It is not a matter of shortage of vaccines anymore as much as it is a case of lack of demand. Travel is no longer restricted and masks are not needed either.
In this new world that resembles the pre-pandemic world in its buzzing nature, do we still need TVK?
That’s pretty much the question I have been wrestling with this past year as life happened and TVK made way for other priorities.
But this new world also resembles the pre-pandemic world in the divisions that we see before us. Less tolerance for migrants, victory for exclusionist leaders in national elections, war on the basis of religion, empathy gap for victims of wars… the list goes on.
So yes, I do believe TVK still has a role to play in the new world. I may not post that often but I will not give up again either.
On our birthday, here’s our gift to you this week: a series on bay leaves and three dishes it can transform into exquisite dishes that will definitely tease your palate. Enjoy a quick and easy vegan pulao recipe, a vegan paella recipe (coming soon), and a vegan jollof rice recipe (coming soon).
